Flea Market Flamingo

Last weekend I found this adorable rocking flamingo for $7 at the flea market.  It was quite dirty and needed some minor repairs.  It's almost ready to go to my shop.  It's obviously handmade and I can just see some loving grandpa cutting it out and grandma making the cute little seat.

I also bought a box of beautiful drapery fabric remnants for $5.  Yesterday was pillow making day at my house. I love sewing pretty pillow  but have found they don't sell at my shop, so I fill up my beds with them.

The weather has been beautiful here this week.  I thought you might enjoy these pictures that I took this morning in my backyard.

There's Miss Heidi checking out her backyard!

I'm having a friend over for lunch today and I'm serving cream cheese, bacon, and avocado sandwiches.  We may be able to eat outside if it doesn't get too hot.  Have I told you how much I love summer?

A Great Read!

This week I'm helping with the care of my neighbor's beautiful golden retriever, Rosie.  Yesterday when I went over to let her out, my neighbor had left a book  for me to read.  Her note said it was great so I couldn't wait to start it. I opened it around 4:00 p.m. and didn't put it down until I finished at 1:30 a.m.  That's how good it was!  The fact that it was large print was a bonus.

The Lost Wife is  well-written Holocaust fiction and a terrific love story.  However, because of the subject matter, it's not for someone looking for light, "happy", reading.  The author, Alyson Richman, is an amazing author and I'd say this is at the top of my list of favorites!

Don't forget to comment on my previous post so your name will be in the hat for my blogiversary giveaway on August 1.

I have created this blog with the intent of meeting fellow corgi lovers, miniature addicts and nice people who appreciate simple things in life!

This has been my first summer of retirement and it has been wonderful!  I've spent lots of time searching through flea markets, checking out a 43 mile yard sale,  going to lunch with friends and family and taking afternoon naps.  I have managed to do some redecorating in my house, catching up on some sewing and working in my flowers, with the help of my  corgi girls.

I have a passion for vintage linens, old dishes and Susan Paley vases.  Susan's vases were made by Ganz and the collection was retired in 2006.  My daughter and her dear friend introduced me to Susan's work and I quickly became one of her greatest admirers.  Her lady vases are very cheerful and the colors are beautiful!  She is a very talented artist!
