Miniature Little Rascals' Club House

I have a wonderful friend in Tennessee who does the most amazing minature projects.  She posted this little clubhouse on her Facebook page last night and I got her permission to share it with you.

Don't you love the window treatment?  LOL  If you click on the picture you can see more of the details.

Seeing this project makes me want to start a new one.   My next mini shop is going to be a bakery.

Thanks, Linda, for letting me share your pictures!

Here's What's Blooming This Week!

Enjoy your holiday weekend!

My "Endless Summer" hydrangea is in full bloom.  It is supposed to bloom all summer and it will be interesting to see if it really does!
The lilies are starting to bloom.
Geraniums are my favorite and I love this color!
The hens and chickens are really growing on the corgi topiary!

Our Trip to the Chesapeake Bay

First, let me start off by telling you that I am sooo upset with myself.  I took  the best pictures of Arabelle at the beach, the Victorian houses on main street decorated for Memorial Day, and close-ups of a nesting osprey.  Tonight when I got ready to load them on my computer, I didn't have the card in my camera.  Therefore, the pictures are on the camera but I can't get them off.

It was beautiful today, very warm but a nice breeze blowing.  Arabelle was a great little travel companion and only tried to roll on a couple dried earthworms.

We got home in  time to watch American Idol.  The show was much too long, wish it had only been an hour.

We're Headed to the Bay!

Miss Arabelle and I are headed to the Chesapeake Bay today to visit my niece. She lives in the small town where I grew up.   I don't get to see her as often as I'd like but we always have lots of fun.   We'll check out a few thrift stores, visit my brother-in-law and spend some time at the beach.

Arabelle is  funny at the beach.  She likes to roll on smelly dead fish, etc.  I'll have to watch her closely because I don't want to have to drive back with all the windows down!

We'll leave in the late afternoon and it'll take about an hour and a half to get home.  I have to be home to watch American Idol tonight.   Who do you think is going to win?  Lauren and Scotty are both so talented!

Wind in the Willows Picnic, Royal Albert Collection

A few Saturdays back, I found this cup and saucer at the flea market for just a few dollars.  I bought it to sell in my Etsy shop but don't think I can part with it.  The colors are so pretty, all pastels.  The little critters getting ready for the picnic are so cute, especially the frog all dressed up.

The date on the set is 1987.

Clematis

I took these pictures this morning of the clematis vine on my mailbox.  This one is named Jackmani and is several years old.  Jackmani blooms on new growth so I prune it back to about 12" in March, put a cup of lime around it and fertilize it.

The clematis was just a few years old in this picture.

This girl was only 11 weeks old.  Can't imagine trying to get her in the mailbox now!

Pet Accessory Organizer

I was reading Just Cats In-Home Care blog recently and saw this tip from Deb.  She suggested using a clear over-the-door shoe organizer to store your pet accessories. What a great idea!  I got this organizer at Bed, Bath and Beyond.  It was $14.99 and I had a $5 off coupon.  Since I have three furgirls, I can never keep up with their leashes, medicines, bandanas etc.

The  top is divided into two sections.  I put emergency info in one and their rabies certificates in the other.

Thanks, Deb, for this great tip!

I Won My First Blog Giveaway!

Jeri at Hopalong Hollow Gazette had an egg roll to determine the winners of her  giveaway.    You just have to head over to her blog and read about it.  Her post is so funny!

I'm excited to say I was one of three winners of her beautiful lithograph.  I can't wait to get my package in the mail.  It is going to look great in my breakfast room!

Thank you, Jeri!

Trip Cancelled

I'm sad to say that my trip to Verde Farm has been cancelled for this weekend.  My dear friend's daughter is battling cancer and has suddenly gotten worse in the last few days.  She's  young (40) and has 2 beautiful little girls (4 and 7 years old).   He and I have been "dating" for 16 years and he is a wonderful father and grandfather.

I decided when I started writing my blog that I would only post about positive things but I felt I wanted  to share this with all of you.  Please keep her in your prayers.

On a lighter note, be sure and hop over to The Raspberry Rabbits blog and meet Lady Hannah Goldenhare,  the newest resident in Bunnyville.  Shell's post about her is sooo funny!

Hanna Visits the Assisted Living Center

Yesterday Hanna and I made our monthly visit to a local assisted living center. I always take her to McDonald's for lunch (he, he) after our visits. Yesterday was beautiful so we ate at the picnic table. I give her about one third of a hamburger patty.  Can you tell that I love my corgi girls?

200th Post Giveaway Winner

Deb of  Just Cats In-Home Care blog is the winner of my giveaway and I'll be putting these cards in the mail to her  as soon as I get her mailing address.  Deb lives in Ontario, Canada.  I read her blog regularly and love hearing about her catsitting and rescues.

I found the  perfect clasp for my button bracelet at Hobby Lobby yesterday.  It's the right size and  the perfect color!  I wanted you to see how the bracelet looks with the new clasp.  I still have at least a couple hundred buttons  and may make a bracelet for my Etsy shop.

Lost Comments

When blogger was down for maintenance at the end of last week, the comments on my 200th giveaway post disappeared.  Please check back and make sure your comment is still there if you want your name in the drawing on Wednesday.

I'm starting to pack for my trip to Verde Farm at the end of the week and I'm so excited about meeting Amy, her husband, and all the critters.

Spring Flowers

I want to share with you these beautiful pictures my friend took this week.  I love spring flowers!

Hope you have a restful Sunday!

Button Bracelet

Over the years, I have accumulated a large  collection of buttons.  I've wanted to make a bracelet out of silver buttons.  After trying a couple different methods, I finally found  something I like.  I started with a 7/8 inch piece of belt webbing and sewed the buttons on by hand.  I finished the back with twill tape.  The closure is  Velcro and I'm not sure about that.   Any suggestions?

Repost: 200th Post Giveaway

I'm sorry to say,  blogger was down all day yesterday and I  lost most of  the comments previously posted on my giveaway.  Only the first three are showing up.  Therefore,  if you'd like to have your name in the hat, please comment again.

Repost:

I recently wrote my 200th post  and decided I wanted to have a giveaway.  The winner will receive an assortment of my handmade cards (not necessarily the ones in the above picture).  All you have to do is leave a comment on this post.  I'll leave this open until May 18th.  If you don't have a blog or want to email me, that will work as well.

What's Blooming This Week?

My rhododendrons are beautiful this year.  I love seeing the raindrops on the flower petals in these pictures.

I've had this little lady for about ten years.  I can see that she's going to need a makeover in the fall.

This is a columbine a friend brought me from West Virginia.

My Fairy Garden

I decided yesterday to make a small fairy garden.  I'd love to make one in a child's red wagon that I have  next year but thought I'd start out on a smaller scale.  I gathered things I already had and it was so much fun putting it together.  The plant with the tiny round leaves has a beautiful white flower on it and I hope it will bloom when it gets more sunlight.

History of Mother's Day in the U. S.

Anna Jarvis held a ceremony in 1907 in Grafton, West Virginia, to honor her mother, who had died two years earlier. Jarvis' mother had tried to establish Mother's Friendship Days as a way of dealing with the aftermath of the Civil War. Anna Jarvis began a campaign to create a national holiday honoring mothers. She and her supporters wrote to ministers, businessmen and politicians, and they were successful in their efforts.

In 1910, West Virginia became the first state to recognize the new holiday, and the nation followed in 1914 when President Wilson declared the second Sunday in May to be Mother's Day. Jarvis used white carnations as a symbol for mothers, because carnations represented sweetness, purity and the endurance of mother love. (Today, white carnations represent a mother who has died, while red carnations represent a living mother.)

Verde Farm Cottage

I am so excited!  My plans to visit Verde Farm and stay in the cottage were finalized with Amy tonight.  In two weeks my friend and I will leave early Friday morning and stop at every place of interest (junk stores, antiques shops, etc.) all the way to West Virginia.

On Saturday, we'll meet all of the farm critters and take a look around Huntington.  I can't wait to finally meet Charlotte and see her newly decorated chicken house!

American Idol

I think this has been my favorite season of  American Idol!  I love the new judges and the  singers are so talented, all of them.  My favorite is Scotty McCreery from NC.  I cannot believe he's only 17!  I'll be anxious to see who gets voted off this week.  They were all so good!

Great Friends!

I had dinner with the most wonderful friend earlier this week.  We laughed so much! We went over every detail of the royal wedding and talked about all the movies we want to see.   She brought me this adorable straw hat and always brings me PF gingerman cookies.  I am so thankful for my  friends!

Speaking of friends, I don't think you've met this guy.  He's the man of my house!  When he was a kitten, his ears where so big he looked like a fox so I named him Tod after the little fox in the Disney movie, The Fox and the Hound.  In this picture he's perched on top of clothes  I took out of the dryer.   He's 16 now and slowing down a bit but still such a sweet cat.  No matter were I go, he's right behind me.
