Estate Sale

Last Sunday was such a crisp, beautiful day!  My friend and I decided to take in an estate sale at this lovely old home built in the 1800's.  It was the end of a three day sale so everything was fifty per cent off.  I was more excited about getting the opportunity to go inside this house than any treasures I might find.  The only thing I bought was an worn old apron with a gorgeous hand crocheted border at the bottom.  The border is about four inches wide and the word LOVE is spelled out several times in the crocheting.

This Rose of Sharon had just a few summer blooms left.  One of my favorite things was this gigantic hollow tree by the back door.   I could only imagine how much fun my dogs would have racing through it.

Just for fun, I want to share this picture of a lovely couple I met yesterday at another sale.

If I were to give them names, I'd call them "Billy" (not very original, I know) and "Ruth Ann"!

Estate Sale Finds

I can't wait to show you what I found this weekend at an estate sale.  The sale was Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  My friend and I went yesterday and saw several things we liked but decided we'd take a chance and go back today (Sunday) when everything was reduced 50%.

My friend bought this gorgeous handmade quilt for his granddaughter for $32!  What a great find.

I got a pair of these lamps for my living room for $25.  I love hummingbirds and the colors of the flowers match the fabric on my sofa.

I also purchased a box of vintage crochet items for $4.  I love these glass covers.  I'm going to put them in my Etsy shop soon.  Does anyone know what I should call them?

Estate Sale Findings

Last Friday I went to a "once in a lifetime" estate sale for me!  The estate was selling three beautiful dollhouses and the contents of each were being sold separately.  I bought several electric lamps for $3 each which is a small fraction of what they would  cost new.  I also got this pretty girl.  I redressed her and gave her a doll I got in Vermont many years ago.  She's a lovely playmate for the little girl I already have.

These are pictures hanging in that room.

Both of the lights in this room I got from the sale.  The dollhouse is a Hallmark ornament.
Raggedy Ann and Andy are about thirty years old and are made from dough.

Friday night I thought of all the things I wished I had bought at the sale and made a list.  Saturday morning I went back to pick up my items and some things  for a friend whose doing a miniature tea room.  About an hour before I got there someone bought the entire contents of the houses!  This was definitely a case of "you snooze, you loose!"  I should have been there when the sale started that morning.

I also got this little bag of groceries with the receipt sticking out the top.
