A Great Book!

I just finished reading The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd and loved it!  She also wrote The Secret Life of Bees which I enjoyed also.

I haven't been reading much in the last few months but I know this book is going to be the beginning of my summer reading marathon.  It's already too hot  to work in my flower gardens, so I 'll have lots of time to read.  Let me know if you have any recommendations.

Hot Air Balloon Ride

I was going through some old pictures last night and decided to share these with you.  In July of 2001, my friend and I took a ride over the desert in Sedona, Arizona, in this balloon.  We had to be at the site very early in the morning when the winds would be just right to carry the balloon safely.  This is what it looked like before it was totally inflated and upright.

This balloon had a large basket and held 11 people.
As we glided over the desert, we could see the long-eared jack rabbits running around below.  This is one of my favorite lifetime experiences.  I'd never miss the opportunity to go up again.

I love this picture of the shadow on the red rock of the balloon we're in!

Miniature Little Rascals' Club House

I have a wonderful friend in Tennessee who does the most amazing minature projects.  She posted this little clubhouse on her Facebook page last night and I got her permission to share it with you.

Don't you love the window treatment?  LOL  If you click on the picture you can see more of the details.

Seeing this project makes me want to start a new one.   My next mini shop is going to be a bakery.

Thanks, Linda, for letting me share your pictures!

Here's What's Blooming This Week!

Enjoy your holiday weekend!

My "Endless Summer" hydrangea is in full bloom.  It is supposed to bloom all summer and it will be interesting to see if it really does!
The lilies are starting to bloom.
Geraniums are my favorite and I love this color!
The hens and chickens are really growing on the corgi topiary!

Our Trip to the Chesapeake Bay

First, let me start off by telling you that I am sooo upset with myself.  I took  the best pictures of Arabelle at the beach, the Victorian houses on main street decorated for Memorial Day, and close-ups of a nesting osprey.  Tonight when I got ready to load them on my computer, I didn't have the card in my camera.  Therefore, the pictures are on the camera but I can't get them off.

It was beautiful today, very warm but a nice breeze blowing.  Arabelle was a great little travel companion and only tried to roll on a couple dried earthworms.

We got home in  time to watch American Idol.  The show was much too long, wish it had only been an hour.

We're Headed to the Bay!

Miss Arabelle and I are headed to the Chesapeake Bay today to visit my niece. She lives in the small town where I grew up.   I don't get to see her as often as I'd like but we always have lots of fun.   We'll check out a few thrift stores, visit my brother-in-law and spend some time at the beach.

Arabelle is  funny at the beach.  She likes to roll on smelly dead fish, etc.  I'll have to watch her closely because I don't want to have to drive back with all the windows down!

We'll leave in the late afternoon and it'll take about an hour and a half to get home.  I have to be home to watch American Idol tonight.   Who do you think is going to win?  Lauren and Scotty are both so talented!
