Coming Soon To Our House...

Perl is the puppy closest to the camera.

Miss Heidi and I will welcome a new fur family member on February 24.  After a few weeks of searching and calling breeders, I finally found someone who has puppies.  I am getting a Cardigan Welsh corgi. She is a very light blue merle and the breeder thinks she's going to have those beautiful blue eyes that some merles have. I  have named her "Perl" which is the Welsh spelling of the name Pearl.

Heidi is a senior girl (she is six months younger than Hanna) and our house is too still and quiet.  I'll probably be writing in a couple months "what was wrong with a still and quiet house".  But for now, I am so excited!

2014

As I reflect back on 2014, I have many happy memories of traveling, spending time with my friends and family, and riding with the top down on my new (to me) car.

Having to let Hanna go to the bridge was my saddest memory. Heidi and are are adjusting nicely and spending lots of quality time together.  I am so thankful for her! I don't plan to add another corgi as long as I have Heidi.

I don't know about you, but I'd like to fast forward to spring now.  I planted about forty tulips last year and can't wait to see them blooming.  January and February are always long and dismal to me. I didn't read much in 2014 but I hope to in the next few months.  If you have any suggestions of  "good reads", please forward them to me.

Happy New Year to you and your families!

Final Tribute to My Beautiful Hanna

Last Thursday, with the help of my wonderful vet, my Hanna went to the bridge.  She suffered from complications of Degenerative Myelopathy (DM) and was in constant pain that couldn't be controlled by medication.  Her corgi sister, Heidi, and I miss her terribly.  She was six months old when Heidi came to live with us and they were always best buddies.  She was my first corgi and my "heart dog."

Tilly's Nest: Craft a Holiday Chicken Wreath

Today I came across this lovely blog and instructions to make this rooster Christmas decoration.  I thought some of you might enjoy making him, especially my blogging friends who have farms.

Tilly's Nest: Craft a Holiday Chicken Wreath: I've been wanting to show you all how to make a chicken wreath for a very long time now. It is always so much fun to create animals ...

My Week in Paradise

My trip to Key West was  incredible! The weather was beautiful  and the seafood was scrumptious.  Below are some of my favorite pics.

Beautiful sunsets every night!

Chickens roam the streets freely and this rooster
seemed to think our inn was his territory.

.
We stayed in this beautiful inn.

Miss Tigger was the social director at our inn.

We enjoyed breakfast at this historical bakery.

I can't wait to go back to the island.  I love it!

And last, but not least, please visit my friend, Pat's, new website for her beautiful pound cakes.  Celebration Cakes by Pat.  Her cakes are  beautiful and delicious!
Please mention my post if you order.

Belated Halloween Greetings!

Each year I feature on my blog my handsome grand cat in his Halloween costume.   Unfortunately, this year, he refused to cooperate for the photo shoot so the quality of the photos is questionable.

He's definitely a sweet monkey with or without his costume!

A few weeks ago I posted pictures of a small dressing table that I was working on for my shop space.  I was fortunate to find this cute little stool to sell with it.

The dresser set sold to a mom for her four year old daughter.  It makes me smile to think of a cute little one enjoying it.

My shop manikin "Izzy" was all decked out for the Halloween.  I try to change her outfit each month for the next holiday.  It's fun shopping for her clothes.

This has been a beautiful fall!  The weather has been unseasonably warm in Central Virginia.   I've been able to cruise around with the top down almost everyday.

Next week I'll be marking one more thing off my "bucket list". Monday I am flying to Key West with a longtime friend.  We are meeting her daughter there for the week.  I am getting so excited!  I love flying and haven't flown in several years.

I'll have lots of pictures and stories to share with you in a couple weeks.

Catching Up!

Trixie

A friend I met through my blog crocheted this 4 1/2 feet tall witch. Her name is Trixie and she's for sale in Bonnie's space in an antique shop in Roanoke.  Isn't she the cutest witch ever?  I would have a had time parting with her.

I've been working on projects for my shop.  I found this cute dressing table at GW for $10.  It was  mess (wish I had taken a before and after pic), lots of crayon marks, stickers and scotch tape all over it.  I cleaned it and spray painted it with a color that I love and use often (Jade). Getting an oval mirror cut for it was expensive even with me taking a piece of mirror to the glass shop. Lesson learned, don't take on projects with oval mirrors. Square or rectangular cuts are much less expensive.

I also found this lovely Susan Paley vase at GW this week for 2.25. It's rare to find one at GW.  She now has a new home on my mantle with all her relatives.

I had dinner at my daughter's last night and my grandcat, Owen, was lounging in her Halloween decoration that she'll use to store candy in later.  It looks as if  he's thinking about what he wants to his costume to be this year.

With permission, of course, I'd like to share this beautiful picture of Odin, a corgi friend from Facebook.

If you've read my blog for a while, you'll remember a few years ago I had to rehome my beautiful fluffy corgi, Arabelle, because of fighting issues.  Well, tonight I am so excited!  Arabelle and her new mom are coming for a visit tomorrow.  It doesn't matter how much time passes between visits, I always feel like she remembers me.  She has a wonderful home and a family who adores her.

I will always love this girl!
