Friday Thrifting

The temperature was in the 70's here on Friday and it was such a beautiful day.  My friend and I left early to spend the day in Williamsburg, VA, shopping at all the thrift shops and consignment stores.

I've been looking for a rose colored tablecloth  to use with my china for a long time.  They are pretty hard to find because I guess this isn't a  popular color right now.   My friend found one hanging on a rack at the Disabled Veteran's Thrift and it was the perfect color.   It looked to be freshly laundered and was stain free.  What a find for $3.
The color is  lighter than it looks in this picture.  The china was given to me by my neice.  Her aunt was a nurse in WWII and brought the set back with her from France.  I don't use it often because it is so old and very fragile.

At the same store I found this reversible black and white stripe and toile tablerunner.  It is in new condition also and was only $3.  I plan to use it with  my black toile dishes.  Both items laundered beautifully!

And last but not least, I got this beautiful china teacup for $1.  It is made by Paragon and the pattern is called Tapestry Rose.  Don't know what I'll do with it but just couldn't leave it.   I always feel the need to rescue a pretty teacup!

Have a great weekend from the furgirls and me!

  4. Beautiful finds Sharon! I love going thrift store shopping! The weather finally broke and I got to go Thursday. It had been 3 weeks since I had been there. I didn't find anything good like you did though. I bought a heavy duty dog leash for my mom's big dog for a dollar. That was a good buy! I think that stores that get their items donated for free to them shouldn't charge people an arm and a leg to buy them. I know that some of the GoodWill stores around here are so expensive that I do better at the store on the clearance rack!

    Have a Wonderful Weekend!

  6. You got some beautiful items, I have gave up looking when my health got so bad, but it seems like everybody and their mother would scoop up any nice things - to resell on the internet. We are in a quite depressed area as far as money goes. Our Goodwill charges too much, I never find a bargain there.
