Knock Out Roses

My sister has been telling me how easy the Knock Out roses are to care for and how beautiful they are.  I've only had a few rose bushes and haven't had great luck with them.  Well, tonight I was at Home Depot (I know, I know, it sounds like I live at Home Depot) and I saw this double pink Knock Out rose.  It was so gorgeous! I read the label and it blooms from spring until fall and can withstand severe heat which we have here in central Virginia.  I didn't buy one because I really have to find a place to plant it.  It requires 4 to 6 hours of full sun and I'm not sure I have that anywhere in my yard.  Tomorrow I'm going to see if I have a spot suitable.

  2. Those roses are beautiful! I love roses in my garden. I am lucky I suppose that they will grow very well on my clay soil and in our climate. Funny though that we always want to grow something that isn't right for our garden. I grow hosta's (hosta sieboldiana elegans) because I love the size and colour of the leaf, BUT I also have a lot of snails in my garden and by the middle of summer most leaves are full of holes...Oh well, at least I enjoy them part of the year, lol!
I would say, go for the roses Sharon! Plant them by your front door or your terrace so you get to enjoy them every day!

BUT he never said I was banned from my local nurseries! haha Good luck with your Knockout..I have the single but the doubles are very pretty too!
