Winter Blues

Earlier this week, I read the best article while waiting in my dentist office.  I think it was in Goodhousekeeping.  The title was "How to Fight the Winter Blues".  I don't know about you, but I needed those words of wisdom.  One suggestion that stood out in my mind was before you turn out your lights each night,  write down something that you're grateful for from that day.

I really like that idea and it's been so easy!  The first day I wrote down a funny phone conversation I had with a friend that day.  Last night it was that sweetly snoring corgi angel on the foot of my bed.  Tonight it will be the beautiful snow we had last night.  My backyard looks like the pictures in my header.

  1. Spring will be here soon and the days are getting longer. We no longer have snow and the weather is due to get warmer but sadly more rain and grey skies. Can't wait for sun. Have a terrific Thursday.
    Best wishes Molly

  2. We can't control the length of the days but we can control our attitudes and feelings. I have read of people writing down what they are thankful for daily and it really does help.

  3. Hi Sharon:
I don't get the blues here very often, but I can remember when cold and snow used to get the best of me. I always found a fire in the fireplace, a good book and a dog at my feet always helped. If that wasn't enough, a coffee and Bailey's usually did the trick! ;-)

    Hugs from Tag and me.

  4. Taking a walk in bright sunshine, (cold out or not), always cheers me up! So did today's little snow event.

  6. Wonderful idea. I have often heard of keeping a gratitude journal. It seems to work for a lot of folks. Hope you have sunny and happy days soon!

  7. I like this idea. Would be fun to start a little journal of these thoughts. Wouldn't it be great if everyone in the world did this. I bet people would be happier. :-)
