It All Started with One Feed Sack

I recently found this beautiful feed sack at a flea market.  It took me a while to decide how to use it but finally thought I'd try covering a lampshade.

I was excited about how it turned out and have been covering shades all week!  I've enjoyed being creative without sewing.

The glue is still damp on this one.

I've used fabrics and trims that I already have.  Do you think I'll be able to sell them in my shop space (except for the blue one, it's in my bedroom)?

  1. Those are pawsome. How clever. You should be able to sell them. As they say ....nothing ventured ...nothing gained. Go for it. Have a super Saturday.

  2. My word! You are very good at this! Who knew a feed sack could be so pretty? I have an old apron, made from an average flour sack. You can barely make out the printing on it, but it's printed with the word "flour". Anyway, someone went to great extremes to attach a magnifcent hand made lace all around the hem. Oftentimes, I am tempted to extract that lace for use on something else, but I just can't do it. It is such an example of extremes, the gorgeous lace, the soft old faded floursack... joined together.

  3. Hi Sharon,
Your lamp shade makeovers are AWESOME!!! Love the first one! How did you do that??? Give them a try at your booth and see what happens. It's so hard to know what people will purchase!
    Warmly,

  4. Very well done! I don't blame you for keeping that first one, I would too. That is a very special piece of fabric and this was the perfect use for it.

  9. This is MY favorite feedsack of all ... because I love silhouettes. It is gorgeous but they all are. Great job. I have 4,000 feedsacks & love them all.

TY for telling me about this. I am not sure, we may be FB buds but I don't know how to tell ... I am sooo not computer bright.

Have a great day, my friend.
