There's an old Esso station in a small neighborhood in north Richmond that is filled with antique cars and always decorated for the appropriate holiday. How many of you remember Esso service stations? I do!
There are great antique shops, consignment shops and restaurants in that area. Saturday I had lunch with a friend near the station and took these pictures to share with you.
Considering I had to take the pictures through the storefront glass, I think they turned out pretty clear. The station is never open.
... VA? I love these kinds of places. Great captures.

Love the "Woody" with the surfboards on top. Not that I ever saw one growing up in Mississippi but I did listen to the Beach Boys!
ReplyDeleteOh you did good! Love the models. I have heard of the Esso stations.
ReplyDeleteOh yes Esso stations. I think it was the Flying A that turned into Esso. There werent too many stations back then. Texico, Gulf, Esso, Jenny. Were there more? Thats all I can remember. Bet this is a great place to visit. LJ
ReplyDeleteI remember the old Esso stations back home in Sweden. But they were not as nice as this one is. Great photos ^_^ Have a great day!

Remember years ago when Esso adopted the bee as a logo? They were, I'm sure, thinking "busy as a bee," but someone decided the logo should indicate S O Bee. Those ads were pulled faster than a windshield could be squeegeed.
