Estate Sale

Last Sunday was such a crisp, beautiful day!  My friend and I decided to take in an estate sale at this lovely old home built in the 1800's.  It was the end of a three day sale so everything was fifty per cent off.  I was more excited about getting the opportunity to go inside this house than any treasures I might find.  The only thing I bought was an worn old apron with a gorgeous hand crocheted border at the bottom.  The border is about four inches wide and the word LOVE is spelled out several times in the crocheting.

This Rose of Sharon had just a few summer blooms left.  One of my favorite things was this gigantic hollow tree by the back door.   I could only imagine how much fun my dogs would have racing through it.

Just for fun, I want to share this picture of a lovely couple I met yesterday at another sale.

If I were to give them names, I'd call them "Billy" (not very original, I know) and "Ruth Ann"!

  1. Hi Sharon:
I bet you had fun. I wish we could grow Rose of Sharon here (I don't think we can). I think they're lovely. Hope you have a great week!

  5. Sharon, First off, I am thrilled for you little "shop" space. It is so nice to have a bit of real estate in a nice shop where you can arrange wonderful things in a lovely manner and make a little money as well. I always say that in "another life", I would be a shop-keeper living above my store,in an historic town, in an historic building on Main Street.
The old fallen tree in the yard above would be a great horizontal space for a "garden in a log" I saw one this summer. Great house!
