Yard Pics and a Very Special New Follower!

Today I want to introduce you to my latest "follower".  You'll remember my grandcat, Owen, but may not recognize him without his Halloween costume on.  Isn't he a handsome devil rascal?

This has been the most wonderful spring/summer!  We've had showers several times a week and the flowers are beautiful.  These pictures were taken in my yard this morning.

I found a spoon rack at a yard sale for $2 last weekend.  I painted it and added a little bling.  It's ready to go in my shop now to hold my vintage handkerchiefs.

A "Lucky Day" for Finding Buttons

About a week ago, I was in a thrift shop that opened in my area.  I caught a glimpse of a worn plastic bag filled with buttons at the back of a shelf. I tried to ignore it since my button collecting has gotten out of hand.  Needless to say, it didn't work.  I picked up the bag and it was only $2.50.  I could see that most of the buttons were still on the cards but couldn't tell much about them because it was tightly taped shut.  I made my purchase and when I opened the bag, I was  surprised!  Here are some of my finds:
It's been a long time since I've seen Roebuck and Co. attached to the Sears name.

These are my favorite!  They were made in Western Germany and cost 25 cents.  The color is watermelon pink with a tiny bit of gold trim.

Mother of Pearl buttons

There was several loose Mother of Pearl buttons.  I wanted you to see the backs of them as well as the front.  Each back is a different color since they are made from shells.

It goes without saying that  I'm happy that I invested $2.50 for these beautiful vintage buttons.

Sunday Afternoon

I went downtown with a friend for lunch today and couldn't wait to share these pictures, especially the lady in the bathtub.  Isn't this the neatest idea?  The petunias look like pink bubbles overflowing the purple clawfoot tub.

This sweet dog stands at the door of an emergency vet clinic to greet new patients.

Also, I have a few other things I've been meaning to share with you.  This is a vintage spoonrack that I bought a few weeks ago.  It was purchased to display my handkerchiefs at my shop but somehow it ended up on the wall in my bedroom.  Imagine that!

The owner of an inn my daughter stayed in recently sent me this bag.    I was so excited to get it! Of course, I won't be using it but will display it proudly hanging from the wardrobe in my bedroom.

I hope you've had a wonderful weekend also!

Do Not Let Your Duck Try This At Home!

Do Not Let Your Duck Try This At Home!

I hope you enjoy this video.  I cannot imagine my corgi girls sharing with a duck when they were puppies (or even now).

Click on the link under the post title which will take you to the  blog, The Daily Corgi.  The video is visible to open there.

New Shoes

Earlier this week I saw these shoes on a friends Facebook page and commented on how much I liked them.  She sent me the link to the website (Academy Sports and Outdoors) and I ordered one pair of each color.  I do not like to shop and finding something on the Internet is right up my alley.  I received my shoes today and I love them!  They are  well made, the colors are beautiful and the price ($12.99) was hard to believe.  Plus, they have free shipping!

You may have one of these stores in your area.  I checked their locater map and there aren't any in the state of Virginia.  Of course, I need to post the usual disclaimer.  I am in no way being compensated for telling you about these shoes.  I just love to share a bargain!

The brand name is Autumn Run

We Have A Very Special Guest Today!

Benny inside, Biggie guarding the door and "you know who" in the foreground.

Hi, Benny Corgipants here.

I was born in a horrible puppy mill, where my face was disfigured when I was attacked as a puppy and my injuries were never treated. I lived there for about 5 years until I was rescued by Corgi Connection of Kansas and then adopted and adored by a loving, but goofy couple.

I have my own facebook page and I am blessed with wonderful friends and we have a lot of goofy fun and laughs about my adventures with my brother, Biggie. Unfortunately, there are cats at my home.  Because of my injuries, I am sensitive about my face, and Mr. T., the cat, who is double O stoopid likes to get in my face. So, we've been doing some yard work at our house and Mama and Daddy renovated my big brothers' old playhouse. I claimed it as Benny's Clubhouse and my bro, Sheriff Biggiebody (He's bossy!!) is in charge of Security.

    Visiting Arabelle!

Arabelle napping with both eyes open after a game of "fetch".

Most of you will remember that back in September 2012, I had to made the heartbreaking decision to "rehome" my youngest corgi girl because of fighting issues.  Saturday I was invited over to visit her at her new home.  All the way there I lectured myself about how I "should" act.   No tears necessary, this is a happy occasion.  I rang their doorbell and while I was waiting, Arabelle came running and started barking.  Tears started streaming down my cheeks and I hadn't actually seen her.  So much for the lecture!

She was so happy to see me and I sat on the  floor with her during most of my visit.  Kari (her new mom) and I took Arabelle and Jenkins ( her corgi brother) outside to play fetch with the balls for a short period.  She was so cute!  At first she'd bring the ball back to Kari, but then she dropped it at my feet as if  she wanted me to be included (oh no, it's time for those tissues again).

She's adjusted so well!  Her new family loves her as much as I do and Arabelle adores Jenkins.  Kari says that's because she can boss him around and he doesn't even care.  There was an obvious amount of bonding and tenderness between the two.

My visit was short but then I got to see my beautiful granddaughter and her friends before they went to their high school prom.  One of the girls (yellow dress) lives on a lovely farm and all the pictures were taken on her property.  My granddaughter is wearing purple.  I love that they choose the barn as a backdrop!
