Spring Cleaning My Dollhouse and A Recent Puppy Picture

Last weekend when everyone else was watching the Super Bowl, I decided to do some much-needed spring cleaning in my dollhouse. I removed all the furnishings and applied three coats of satin polyurethane to the wood floors and cedar shingles.

                             

The kitchen is now decorated for Easter and all the eye dying supplies are on the table.  Of course, it's helpful to have corgi supervision.

There's kitty mischief going on in the bathroom.  Do you see the one playing in the toilet?  I'm not sure if this corgi is an innocent bystander  or part of the mischief.

I had fun rearranging the nursery.  All the tiny dolls and toys are so cute.

And, I just had to share this recent picture of my beautiful, blue-eyed puppy, Perl.  I'll be picking her up on February 24.

1:12 Scale Flower Shop

This morning I've been decorating the Dancing Fairies Flower Shop for the holidays.  I built this 1" scale shop from a kit several years ago.

A New House for My Fairy!

A few weeks ago on Saturday morning I went to the flea market looking specifically for a new house for my fairy in my fairy garden.  The one I was using was a clumsy looking bird house and not at all appropriate for a beautiful fairy girl and her handsome little corgi. I was about ready to leave the market and I spotted this little house which was actually a Yankee Candle tea light holder.  It was the perfect size and the perfect price, $2.  Some miniature sized mulch in the bottom covered up the holder for the candle.

I've had so much fun with this little garden this summer.  Children love it!

New Faces in the Dollhouse

This week I added these beautiful girls to my dollhouse.  Linda from Wooten's Miniatures in TN made their footed pj's by hand.   You would not believe the detail!  The buttons are about the size of the head of a straight pin.  The feet have bows on them that look like bunny ears.  Aren't they adorable playing Chinese checkers with their kitty watching?

I love red hair and was so excited when Linda said she would be able to order a redhead girl.   The patches on their butts are just too cute!

She even made them their own blankets!

Miniature Chicken Coop

 This is my miniature chicken coop made from a small wooden birdcage  I found at a flea market.   I had fun making the tiny nesting boxes and finding just the right chickens to fill them.

Estate Sale Findings

Last Friday I went to a "once in a lifetime" estate sale for me!  The estate was selling three beautiful dollhouses and the contents of each were being sold separately.  I bought several electric lamps for $3 each which is a small fraction of what they would  cost new.  I also got this pretty girl.  I redressed her and gave her a doll I got in Vermont many years ago.  She's a lovely playmate for the little girl I already have.

Both of the lights in this room I got from the sale.  The dollhouse is a Hallmark ornament. 

Raggedy Ann and Andy are about thirty years old and are made from dough.

Friday night I thought of all the things I wished I had bought at the sale and made a list.  Saturday morning I went back to pick up my items and some things  for a friend whose doing a miniature tea room.  About an hour before I got there someone bought the entire contents of the houses!  This was definitely a case of "you snooze, you loose!"  I should have been there when the sale started that morning.

I also got this little bag of groceries with the receipt sticking out the top.

Just Add Snow

I built  this 1" scale shop from a kit last year and my good friend at the miniature shop did the brick siding and the electricity.  I had so much fun making all the "parts".  There's limbs for arms, carrots for noses, coal for eyes, top hats and corncob pipes.

Extra items are stored in the loft.

The shopkeeper is watching for customers from the loft window.
